Hi, I'm Pete Forsyth.
Hi, I'm Pete. I'm fascinated by the way our world is changing lately: the way we communicate with each other, the way we craft law and public policy, the economy. I live in Portland, Oregon, where I'm engaged with local politics, the local business and non-profit communities, and online communities like Wikipedia and various blogs and wiki-based web sites.
On Wikipedia, I've worked to develop a strong sense of community and shared purpose among Wikipedia editors in Oregon, and developed a number of high-quality encyclopedia articles. I've also tried to direct my fellow editors' attention outside the Wikipedia site; I helped to end the State of Oregon's claim of copyright over the laws of the state, and established a group blog to explain and expose our work to the broader public. I also co-founded a monthly meeting of wiki enthusiasts called Portland Wiki Wednesday.
I have two consulting businesses: Wiki Strategies and Puddletown Consulting.
I've worked in media since 1991, working in various capacities for local newspapers in Massachusetts and Oregon. In 2001 I helped launch the Portland Tribune, a rare startup newspaper in an era when more newspapers are shutting down than starting up. My experience ranges from writing and editing to graphic design, information systems architecture, and advertising sales. I've also worked as a communications consultant for non-profit and policy research organizations. Specialties include placing stories in both traditional and new media sources, and using social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to develop a robust network and build the brand of an organization.

What I'm up to these days
- I have a blog, Our New Mind, which covers collaboration (both online and offline), public process, and technology.
- I also contribute to several group blogs: the blog for WikiProject Oregon, a group of Wikipedia contributors who share an interest in Oregon; OurPDX, a blog about Portland; and occasionally Loaded Orygun, Blue Oregon, and Daily Kos, for more political matters.
- Developing the Oregon Transparency Taskforce, currently an email list.
I do lots of writing and editing on Wikipedia, and have volunteered for a number of Portland organizations: The Giving Tree, Free Geek, Bus Project, Southeast Uplift, Powell Little League.
I've archived a bunch writing (published and otherwise) here.
I've got some cool friends online, check 'em out!
